What is Generative AI?

Generative AI is artificial intelligence that creates new things. Text, images, music, code, video. It doesn’t just analyze. It makes.

Traditional AI could tell you if a picture contained a cat. Generative AI can draw a cat that has never existed. It learns patterns from millions of examples, then combines those patterns in novel ways.

ChatGPT generates text. Midjourney generates images. GitHub Copilot generates code. These models are trained on enormous amounts of data. They don’t “think” like humans. They are very advanced pattern matchers.

Generative AI is changing creative work. It’s not replacing humans. It’s augmenting them. A writer uses ChatGPT to beat writer’s block. A designer uses Midjourney to brainstorm concepts. A developer uses Copilot to write boilerplate faster.
